In a world where success stories often begin with privilege, resources, or elite education, there are rare journeys that stand apart—stories that begin in simplicity but rise through discipline and determination. One such story is that of Aakanksha Shivankar, a small-town girl from Bhandara, Maharashtra, whose life journey proves that growth is not defined by where you start, but by how far you are willing to push yourself beyond comfort.
Growing up in a middle-class family, Aakanksha’s early life was grounded in discipline and values. Her father, a government employee, carried the responsibility of the household, while her mother ensured that discipline remained the backbone of their upbringing. Life was not filled with luxuries. Every desire was measured, every expense considered. But what they lacked in material abundance, they made up for in strong values and emotional support.
Academically, Aakanksha was not a topper. In fact, she struggled with studies and lacked consistent interest in traditional education. Her journey through school was filled with average scores, self-doubt, and pressure. Yet, what she did possess was something far more powerful—resilience. Despite her challenges, her mother never allowed her to settle into excuses. That constant push became the foundation of her future growth.
Choosing the science stream after 10th grade was one of her first major decisions—one that many around her doubted. With weak mathematics skills and limited academic confidence, the path was far from easy. But Aakanksha didn’t step back. She completed her graduation in B.Sc., followed by an MBA in HR, navigating through failures, backlogs, and moments of confusion.
Her real transformation began when she stepped into the corporate world.
With no exposure to big cities, Aakanksha moved to Pune for her first job at Pride, starting with a salary of just ₹12,000. For many, that might have seemed insignificant. For her, it was the beginning of independence.
The corporate environment was tough. Discipline was strict. Expectations were high. Mistakes were not tolerated lightly. In her initial days, she faced criticism, pressure, and moments where quitting felt easier than continuing. But instead of stepping back, she chose to adapt.
Starting as a receptionist, she quickly began exploring multiple roles—HR recruitment, administration, food management, and event coordination. Her willingness to learn, even without prior experience, set her apart.
One of the turning points in her journey was coordinating a Delhi trip for multiple families. The responsibility was overwhelming. Sleepless nights, constant pressure, and continuous learning defined that phase. But it also built her confidence and leadership.
Soon, opportunities expanded beyond borders.
Aakanksha got the chance to travel internationally, covering countries like Maldives, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Dubai. What once seemed impossible became her reality.
But the biggest leap came when she was selected to move to Dubai.
With just three days to prepare, she made one of the boldest decisions of her life—leaving behind her comfort zone, her family, and her familiar environment to step into a completely new country.
In Dubai, her responsibilities grew significantly. From being part of the gifting department to eventually leading operations as a team head, she transitioned from a learner to a leader. She worked tirelessly, often sacrificing sleep, comfort, and personal time to deliver results.
Her role required global coordination, managing international clients, understanding different cultures, and handling responsibilities that once felt beyond her capability.
Yet, she proved herself—again and again.
One of the most emotional milestones in her journey was bringing her parents to Dubai. For a family that had never imagined traveling abroad, this moment symbolized not just success, but fulfillment. It was a moment where her journey came full circle—from being guided by her parents to becoming someone who could give them experiences they never dreamed of.
Today, Aakanksha holds a respected position, recognized for her contributions and growth. She has received awards, appreciation, and opportunities that once felt out of reach.
But beyond achievements, her story carries a deeper message.
It is a reminder that success is not about perfection.
It is about persistence.
It is about stepping forward even when you feel unprepared.
It is about choosing growth over comfort.
From a rented home in Bhandara to a leadership role in Dubai, Aakanksha Shivankar’s journey is not just inspiring—it is a blueprint for every individual who believes their background limits their future.
Because it doesn’t.
